Project Type : Creating a Thank You Card to express gratitude and reduce cancellation of donation

Duration : June 2015 - August 2015

Role : Intern (Unpaid)

Location :  Amnesty International Hong Kong, Hong Kong S.A.R.

During my eight-week internship in Amnesty International's funding, branding, and communication division, I conducted various research and took on tasks to address the financial limitations of non-profit NGOs. During my brainstorming process and idea meeting with Supervisors, I wondered how I could feel the sincerity of the people, and I proceeded accordingly.

The idea of a "thank you card" was well received and proceeded accordingly. Finding new fundraisers is important, but also maintaining the members who make donations to Amnesty International every month is equally important, so the idea is to send a handwritten letter from Amnesty International staff in Hong Kong to convey, in a more heartfelt way, a message of thanks for the sponsorship provided by existing donors when they quit.

With the motto "BETTER TO LIGHT A CANDLE THAN CURSE THE DARKNESS," Amnesty International's main symbols are candles and yellow. The color yellow, 100 percent pure, symbolizes urgency and hope, and the candlelight surrounded by the logo's barbed wire means to shine a light on hope through solidarity despite oppression.

Inspired by these logos, I drew and scanned my own, and then finished my postwork with Photoshop and Illustrator. The above design, which is the most basic of all, was chosen from among the various designs, and this "Thank you card" I made, is still being used in the process of expressing sincere gratitude to those who have donated for equal human rights in the world.
